Did you know that walking 20 minutes can add to your life?

Did you know that when you exercise you extend the days of your life?
Now then again you can take the easy way out and get a laugh!

-Walking 20 minutes can add to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month.

-My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60.. Now he's 97 years old and we don't know where he is.
-I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.
-The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.
-I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing..
-I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to go there.
-Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise', I wash my mouth out with chocolate.
-I do have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them.
-The advantage of exercising every day is so when you die, they'll say, 'Well, he looks good doesn't he.'
-If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.
-I know I got a lot of exercise the last few years,...... just getting over the hill.
-We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
-Every time I start thinking too much about how I look, I just find a Happy Hour and by the time I leave, I look just fine.
-You could run this over to your friends... But just e-mail it to them!

Did you know that maternity wards are forced to widen delivery-room doors for obese mothers

Maternity units have been forced to widen delivery-room doorways because of the increasing numbers of obese mothers.
Leading hospitals across the country have revealed they have had to expand frames by up to four inches to cope with overweight women.
Thirty out of 33 birthing centres in London have confirmed that the dimensions of their doorways have increased.

Hospitals across the country have revealed they have had to expand frames by up to four inches to cope with overweight women
While rising obesity is a concern in the general population, it is a particular problem for pregnant women because of the health risks to them and their unborn children.
Doctors say up to 50 per cent of women giving birth in some areas of the UK are now classed as obese, with the highest figures in Liverpool, Glasgow and London.
The news was revealed at a conference at the British Library last week held by Government-funded research body the Confidential Enquiry Into Maternal And Child Health (CEMACH).
Jo Modder, CEMACH’s clinical director of obstetrics and consultant obstetrician at University College of London Hospital, said she had witnessed instances where maternity staff could not fit women through delivery-room doors.
She said: ‘It’s not by much, only a couple of inches. But it causes problems and it’s not very dignified for patients.’
Hospitals have admitted spending £50million on equipment to deal with overweight patients, including £21million on stronger beds.
The CEMACH study found two-thirds of maternity units in London had bought new beds. Most could deal with weights of up to 250kg (40 stone), but one birthing centre reported that it had ordered a bed that had a safe working load of up to 300kg (47 stone).
It now appears that hospitals have also had to pay for structural changes. Siobhan Quenby, consultant obstetrician at Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust, said the hospital had been designed with wider beds in mind but that some brands of bed for larger patients still did not fit.
‘The hospital had to find a company that made delivery beds for larger women which would fit through our doors, even after the architect had widened them,’ she said. ‘I think the doors were widened by something in the region of around two to four inches. more

Did you know that a woman was arrested for carrying dead baby hidden in plane hand luggage

PAPAU New Guinea police have arrested a woman attempting to carry a dead baby in her hand luggage on an internal flight.
Police in PNG capital Port Moresby were called to the airport today when security discovered the dead baby in the woman's traditional string bag.
The unnamed woman's husband fled the scene while police made the arrest, police sources said.
The couple had wrapped the body of a dead baby in a cloth and was put inside the bilum (string bag) when boarding an Airlines PNG flight from Port Moresby to Lae.
The woman did not have any documents that are required to transport a dead body on a plane.
Authorities could not confirm whether the woman was related to the baby.
Chief executive officer of PNG airports Clement Kapapal confirmed a dead baby had been discovered by security.
Last week police arrested a PNG Highlands man for having a rocket launcher and nine grenades in his luggage when travelling on a flight to Mt Hagen police station.

Did you know that a Bankrupt Ant Farmer Commits Suicide

A bankrupt Yilishen ant farmer killed herself by jumping off her apartment building in China’s northeastern city of Fushun on January 9, leaving behind her 13-year-old son and elderly mother. The woman, who was known by her Internet name Sister Blood and Tears, jumped off from her home on the third floor of the building at around 5 p.m. that day without leaving any message, said some ant farmers who later visited her family. The dead ant farmer and her families invested over one million yuan (US$ 146,200) on Yilishen Tianxi Group, purchasing and raising boxes of ants from the company for a promised high profit. After the company was exposed as a ponzi scheme in 2007, Sister Blood and Tears appealed and protested to local authorities but obtained no help. The desperate woman had had two unsuccessful suicide attempts since then.Sister Blood and Tears was only one of the 1.3 million frustrated investors, and far from the first ant farmer who committed suicide. Ant farmers blamed the authorities for first helping the company’s fraud and then manipulating the company into bankruptcy and not compensating the deceived farmers, many of whom had lost their life savings to the company. Farmers said their protests had been cruelly suppressed.“The government pushed Sister Blood and Tears to death,” said an elderly ant farmer. “They are ruining all of us ant farmers. We have no way out.” He also said the ant farmers are under the authorities’ surveillance. When Sister Blood and Tears was hospitalized after her first suicide attempt, the authorities sent officials and police to blockade the hospital to prevent information from going out, the ant farmer said. After her death, Sister Blood and Tears’ family informed some other ant farmers who then spread the news to many more. Some local ant farmers plan to hold a ceremony to commemorate the dead. more

Did you know that a 40 year old Woman allegedly tries to kill hubby with visine?

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A 40-year-old southwest Missouri woman is accused of trying to kill her husband by spiking his tea with a half bottle of Visine eye drops. Greene County deputies said the woman was jailed Thursday night on $100,000 bond on a first-degree assault charge.
She was arrested late Wednesday after a co-worker told Greene County deputies that the woman told her about the plot to kill her husband.
A probable cause statement said the husband told investigators he'd been having stomach problems for the past two months.
The statement said poison control experts told a detective that ingesting too much Visine would lead to a coma and other "serious symptoms."
Authorities say the woman researched other means of killing her husband when the first attempt didn't work.
