Did you know what the driving secret is?

The secret that will help our pocketbook, and the planet is simple: Slow Down! I discovered this little miracle by committing to drive 55 mph for a week on my commute. I got 40 miles per gallon. The difference in going faster is startling. At 65 mph, it drops to 32 mpg. I consider that significant. What does slowing down mean on the days I drive to Cheyenne? Well, I suppose I make a lot of people angry because they buzz around me as if I'm standing still. Yet, when I get to the stop light, we arrive at nearly the same time.

Did you know that the asshole is usually in charge?

The body was talking to decide who should be in charge. So each organ began its conversation with:

"I should be in charge," said the brain, "Because I run all the body's systems, so without me nothing would happen."
"I should be in charge," said the blood , "Because I circulate oxygen all over so without me you'd all waste away."
"I should be in charge," said the stomach," Because I process food and give all of you energy."
"I should be in charge," said the legs, "because I carry the body wherever it needs to go."
"I should be in charge," said the eyes, "Because I allow the body to see where it goes."
"I should be in charge," said the rectum, "Because I'm responsible for waste removal."
All the other body parts laughed at the rectum And insulted him, so in a huff, he shut down tight.
Within a few days, the brain had a terrible headache, the stomach was bloated, the legs got wobbly, the eyes got watery, and theblood was toxic. They all decided that the rectum should be the boss..
The Moral of the story? The asshole is usually in charge

Replacing your dirty air filter saves your gas mileage?.

According to fueleconomy.gov driving with an excessively dirty or clogged air filter can reduce your vehicle’s gas mileage by up to 10%. In terms of dollars, that’s the equivalent of adding close to $.30 to each gallon of gas you buy!
Edmonds.com recommends that you change your air filter at least once per year. But how do you know when your car’s air filter is dirty enough so that it should be replaced?
Here’s a simple way to know that your air filter has become so clogged that it has become a detriment to your fuel economy: Remove the air filter from its casing and shine a flashlight on it. If light (or most of the light) is able to get through, your air filter is fine for the time being. However, if most of the light is unable to get through, it’s time for you to replace the filter.
More than likely, the air filter that you would need is readily available at most auto parts stores and you should be able to replace the filter on your own. All said and done, it should take less than 15 minutes to check and, if necessary, replace a clogged air filter.
Sounds to me that 15 minutes and $20 bucks (for the new filter) is time and money well spent if it means your not tacking $.30 extra cents on to each gallon of gas you buy!

Gas prices gradually falling while crude is falling fast

Did you know that the price of crude has been decling from its peak of $147 a barrel last month, crude oil has fallen by 19 percent -- but not gasoline. The local average gas price has fallen by less than 5 percent from its high of $4.346 a gallon on July 8 -- and 6 percent nationally. So, why do gas prices go up like a rocket as crude oil is rising, but parachute slowly downward when its basic raw material is plummeting. A brief explanation shows that while oil prices were making a steady incline, many owners were taking a beating at the pump because they were not passing the crude increase accross the board when they first started happening. Now that the prices are of crude as dropped, many owners are trying to recoup some of their losses. Although they will continue to gradually fall.
4 months ago when the gas prices were $3.27 a gallon I was mad. Now I will welcome these numbers with open arms... Once crude hits $100 a barrell then gas will go back under $3.00 a gallon

Did you know that Men are 2.5 times more likely to die from an accident than are women

Men are 2.5 times more likely to die from an accident than are women. In the United States, 35,000 men die every year as the result of an accident. Between the ages of 1 and 44 years old, accidents are the biggest cause of death. In the 15 to 24 age group, there are over 4 men die for every woman that dies from an accident. But why do men have more accidents than women and also die from them? Much of it has to do with men involving themselves in riskier behavior than women, and here's why.1. Alcohol - This is a big contributor to accidental deaths in men. Men binge drink much more than women do, so they're much more likely to get drunk and then do stupid things. 43% of pedestrians killed in the US every year are men who are drunk.
Apparently, when they have a few beers, looking both ways before they cross the street is the last thing they think of.2. Testosterone - Men have a lot of it and it's testosterone that makes men think things like "I can drive really fast and beat that other car to the stop sign", "Bungee jumping with a homemade bungee cord would be so awesome", or "Skateboarding down that big mountain drunk sounds cool!" As soon as men let their testosterone get the better of them, bad things usually happen.3. The Peacock Syndrome - Men often have to compete for women's attention and, for some bizarre reason, they think women like men who do dangerous things. Really, most women look at them and think "What's wrong with him?" but men don't get that. So, just like the male peacock with the flashy feathers cavorting around to get attention, they get out their motorbikes and do wheelies. At 90 miles an hour. Without a helmet. 4.Men are Raised To Take Risks - Little girls are often told, "Be careful, you might get hurt", but little boys are usually allowed to do what they want. They're encouraged by parents and family members to be adventurous and try things - risk-taking builds character. So, by the time they're 25 years old, they're still thinking about how much fun it would be to skateboard down the street while being pulled by a car. Women, on the other hand, are thinking how much that will hurt when they hit a pole.
